The Art of Engagement
🔥 How do you curate an event that changes people on a deeper level?
This weekend: I hula hooped with fire, co-hosted three workshops, facilitated group meditations and sound healings, performed three songs, and created an interactive spiritual experience that 42 people participated in (minds were blown!).
As organizers....we set the stage, created the run-of-show to the best of what we thought would fit the moment (while vowing to remain adaptable), set up the "container", and opened the gates.
✨ The only thing left to do was allow the magic to happen...and happen it did.
"Best weekend ever."
"I had a moment of enlightenment."
"I realized I love myself exactly as I am."
...was some of the feedback.
I attended several workshops too...including Somatic Breathing, a discussion on the "Meta" (no, not that Meta), plenty of yoga, and more.
What I noticed...the Q Tip, if you will (since my old co-workers are encouraging me to share more of them) is this:
➡️ Embrace silence. Create the space for transformation to occur and then...let it.
During this weekend's workshops, attendees shared from the heart. And when the facilitators allowed for awkward silence, people that hadn't yet shared would speak up and sometimes move themselves and others to tears.
But when facilitators would jump in to 'fill the space', potentially extraordinary moments were lost, never to return.
💥 Breakthroughs happen, not while air is being filled by speakers and keynotes...but during the thinking and conversing about topics and experiences that happens organically.
The takeaway: Build in pauses, build in breaks, build in connection and conversation, and watch the magic of interpersonal and intrapersonal growth happen.
📸 Thank you for this beautiful capture, Zach Finch.
